Maricopa County Library District announces Commemorative Library Card to
 Celebrate America 250
Commemorative library cards, special events, reading challenges, book club kits, and more to honor America's 250th anniversary
MARICOPA COUNTY, Ariz. – July 2 – In honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States, Maricopa County Library District (MCLD) has unveiled a limited-edition America 250 library card, available now at all 14 branches while supplies last. Featuring a patriotic design with a touch of Arizona spirit, the special-edition card gives community members a unique way to celebrate the nation's semiquincentennial while connecting with everything their local library has to offer.

"America 250 is an opportunity to honor our country’s semiquincentennial, reflect on our history, and look forward to the future we are building together,” said Chair Kate Brophy McGee, Maricopa County Board of Supervisors, District 3. "I encourage everyone to visit their local branch to not only pick up the commemorative card, but to join their communities and celebrate the special events happening in recognition of our country."

The commemorative card is part of MCLD's yearlong America 250 celebration, which includes special events, reading challenges, book recommendations, and exclusive keepsakes designed to inspire residents to explore American history, culture, and civic engagement.

"The library is where people come to discover stories, making it the natural place to begin celebrating the story of America," said Jeremy Reeder, MCLD Director and County Librarian. "We’re excited to provide a lasting keepsake with this commemorative card, along with additional programs and experiences that highlight the many stories and resources the library offers to bring our nation’s history to life."

The limited-edition cards are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Current MCLD cardholders may exchange their existing library card for the America 250 card at no charge through December 31, 2026.
